　　A simple, lilting song. When i heard this song at the first time, i was attracted by the rhythm. About the lyric, i think it is a man who had broken up but still was in love with his ex. It's sad, or  it might not.
　　Sting, the lead singer of The Police, said " It sounds like a comforting love song. I didn't realize at the time how sinister it is. I think I was thinking of Big Brother, surveillance and control.", "I think the song is very, very sinister and ugly and people have actually misinterpreted it as being a gentle little love song, when it's quite the opposite." (Wiki) It is interesting that Sting felt angry about that "misconception". Some people think the reason of writing this song is Sting tried to persuade his wife to stay, and it failed. 
　　Anyway, there are hundreds interpretations in hundreds people's mind. For me, it is a sorrow narrated with a little husky voice.
